in honor of spring . . . the story of flopsy

Flopsy bunny was rescued with her bunny buddy, Mopsy, from a rather lovely shop in Mill Valley that no longer exists. It has been replaced by yet another children's shop.

Rescue may seem like a strong word, as both bunnies enjoyed the sweet life in Mill Valley. But truthfully both were terrified of ending up in the home of a spoiled little snot nosed brat. They saw many each day at the store and dreaded even the thought. Personally, I couldn't think of much worse of a fate, and that's why I paid their ransom on a spring afternoon so long ago.

So Flopsy and Mopsy came to spend most of their early days in corporate America. Flopsy stayed at my desk, and Mopsy stayed at the desk of my dear friend, Michele (mjr). Of course, they soon became aware of the cast of characters that spent their days in the office -- suddenly snot nosed kids didn't seem so bad. That is, except for one thing -- late at night in the office.

MJR and I soon became suspicious that something was up with the bunnies. They weren't exactly where we left them when we returned in the morning. At first we thought it was the cleaning people having some fun. But then one day after having to check the recycle bin for something I had accidentally discarded -- I found them. Copy upon copy of bunny feet and bunny ears and even a few bunny rears. Oh my -- if my boss found out, I was doomed.

Yes, it seemed that these little bunnies had discovered the wonders that were our $20,000 copy machine. Each night after everyone had gone home they would sneak into the copy room and take turns making copies of themselves. People were starting to wonder why there was never any paper in the morning, but just blamed the evil marketing staff. If only they knew the truth.

After some thought we decided it best to bring our bunnies home. Hard as it was to separate them, if we were to keep our jobs (as much as we hated them), we couldn't risk being fired. There was a period of withdrawal and adjustment, but all-in-all things went okay. That is until this morning.

It seems Miss Flopsy has discovered that a scanner is like a copier. It's just a little more complex. While she is a smart bunny (and cute to boot), don't know how I am going to wean her of this.

I miss MJR. She would know what to do.
