the message board is up
Actually, it has been up for a few days now. It only took the rules committee about six months to iron out the rules and get them approved by the lawyers. So now there is a small cork board, blank cards, and a copy of said rules hanging in the mail room. In the end it was decided that both homeowners and residents could post, that cards would be taken down after four weeks, and that anything deemed inappropriate would be removed.
That said, when I learned that a fellow blogger, Hovey Lee, who literally lives in the next building over was about to launch her first show in her studio, I asked if she considered placing an ad in our newsletter for the building. I wasn't sure of the deadline or cost, but passed along the association's phone number.
Well, she called up and learned that the deadline for May had passed, but stopped by and met with Valerie, the woman who pretty much runs things down there. She is very sweet actually, and has saintly patience for being able to tolerate some of the residents. Anyway, she actually showed Hovey the board, but told her it was for residents and homeowners only.
What really gets to me is that what we really need is a store. The space in the lobby has been vacant for over six months now. There was a message board there where people from outside could post. I mean yes, ultimately her goal is to make money (this is the USA last time I checked -- no harm in that). But she is also providing a service that probably a segment of the building might have some interest.
Mother's day is coming. So is wedding season, and graduation. There are many original and relatively affordable gifts in her jewelry collection. If nothing else, what is wrong with supporting a local artist? Part of the plan of Emeryville was to attract such people, and now that they are here, shouldn't we help ensure that they stay?
Oh, and when I checked tonight there were a few posts on said message board. Several units for rent (I love that they try and classify them as 1.5 baths -- try 1.25). Also a decade old refrigerator for $125 -- try $20, and you move it.
Sometimes I can't decide if I just want to scream or cry.

Could not find a suitable section so I written here, how to become a moderator for your forum, that need for this?
Dear Anonymous,
Wow! You would like to moderate a cork board?
Clearly you lack the proper skills to be a moderator as you cannot read. If you did, you would have understood that this board is controlled by the homeowners of said building where said bulletin board resides. If they wouldn't let outsiders post cards on it, why would they let an anonymous outsider control it?
Thank you kindly for your interest though.
