hello from ames

Saw these guys at a rest stop in Wyoming. They remind me of squirrels without the bushy tails (for the record, I don't care for squirrels much). They are a little larger than a hamster and pretty quick. One was actually a little agressive ( I think they have been conditioned to see people and think food).

The big event last night was a 3am fire drill. Not recommended. The sound was piercing. It is hard to cover one's ears and look for clothing, so out I went in my nightgown and bathrobe (sans bra or panties). It took nearly 15 minutes for the firetrucks to arrive and it seemed like another ten before the alarm was shut off. There was no fire. Perhaps someone trying to be funny on the third floor.
