making it official

The formal building dedication was held this weekend in conjunction with alumni weekend. Must say this school knows how to throw a party. Everyone was greeted at the front door with "good morning and welcome to the dedication ceremony" as well as a goodie bag (we now have matching GSB umbrellas).
One of the first things I noticed as we found seats in the winter garden was two individuals strung up on ropes and sitting on swings high above the festivities. B thought they might be photographers, but they were dressed in what appeared to be some sort of costume.
After the speeches were made, they each descended.

Next there were some brief acrobatics. This was how the scissors were presented to the Dean for the formal cutting of the ribbon and dedication of the building. I was actually surprised there wasn't some sort of incantation.

The scissors were passed off and Dean Snyder did the honors. It was an absolutely gorgeous morning. Lots of sun with temperatures in the 60's. I don't think anyone could have asked for a nicer day to celebrate this achievement. The building is truly stunning.
