it's always about location
Today I saw an article from Forbes about the most expensive zip codes in the US. I have actually lived in one, and worked in two. That's pretty impressive considering my roots.
Zip codes have always fascinated me. Part of it had to do that I used to stuff envelopes (usually 5000+ at a time) to earn money when I was in high school, and part of that job entailed zip code sorting. I only got kicked once. That is pretty good.
The other part I suppose just comes from living in LA in the 80's. It was all about your zip code. 90034 wasn't anything to be ashamed of, but there were better.
I have always felt it better to live in the worst house in the best neighborhood rather than the best house in the okay neighborhood (although the goal of course is to live in the nice house in the good neighborhood, this is just for the time inbetween). This way you get the benefits of the nice neighborhood. How many waking hours do you spend in your home anyway?
But I digress. I was talking about location. My current location seems to be limbo.
I still have no idea where I will be this summer. I am leaning toward staying here. I guess the real question is where will B be this summer?
At last report well over 60% of the class of '06 had landed internships for the summer. It wouldn't surprise me if it were closer to 75% by now. It is hard to be on the other side of that percentage. I am not good with unknowns. I like to plan, know where I am going. Know my exact latitude.
To make my days more interesting, we know that B's parental unit has crossed the International Date Line with the intention of visiting Chicago at some point. Per usual they have no definite plans. Or if they do, have chosen not to share them with us. I like to know when to expect visitors. That is just who I am. I am all about location (mine and others).
currently feeling: unknown
background noise: pleasantville suite, randy newman
