ethel's
I think I mentioned Marley's Chocolate in Evanston in a post this past winter about chocolate. I got B some chocolates there for Valentine's Day. Marley's is actually part of Ethel M's Chocolate Company. And it seems that sometime between Valentines and Easter, they became Ethel's. It is such an improvement. Wow!!
For starters they added more sit down space and a bigger menu. We actually stopped in at some point shortly after Valentine's Day and had some hot chocolate. It was excellent, but the space was tiny. Even better they painted the walls pink and brown. It is decadent.
B and I decided to have dinner at the Davis Street Fish Market on Saturday. It was pretty packed with people celebrating graduations at Northwestern. We decided to sit outside and save ourselves the 45-minute waite. Afterward we walked down the street and discovered Ethel's.
We shared the tea and chocolate sampler. For $15 you get 11 truffles plus two cups of tea. We ended up taking home half of the truffles. And the tea was from Forte. The bags are works of art and the tea is also good. The bags have little leaves instead of a tag and they come in these individual little boxes.
It seems they also have a location in Lincoln Park. I suspect the layout is similar. I think either space would be a good meeting place for book club this summer.

I came to this late. It is not that Marley's is actually Ethel's but that the independent shop sold out to Ethel's which is a national conglomerate. Sorry to see them go since now it is very formula. You see one Ethel's you see them all without that personal touch of the owner knowing who you are. Hope the hot chocolate is the same.
