the countdown begins

The beginning of the end. Today is the start of spring quarter, B's last. I knew time was going by fast, but it really seems like I have entered some new form of warp speed. Spring break went by in a blink.

It should be an interesting quarter. B only has three classes, and no evening classes. I think this is the first time he hasn't taken any evening classes. Personally one a quarter isn't bad. It gives me a night to myself. It is when they take place three nights a week, or on a Friday night that I get a bit pissy.

Last spring quarter B had a Friday night class followed by a Saturday morning class. Oh it sucked. Actually he has never had a schedule that has allowed us to take off on the weekends. That has been somewhat disappointing.

The truth is spring quarter is hard because the second years go for broke in the bidding process - it's not like bid points are good for anything come graduation (free drink at an alumni mixer -don't think so). As a result the first year's end up feeling the results. Thus how B ended up with that Friday/Saturday combo. Of course if you are willing to stick it out and potentially attend 5 or 6 classes for the first week or two, a first year probably could get into some of the classes that went for an outrageous sum. Still it is labor intensive. It also probably requires several trips to the book store.

In other news, the weather still hasn't caught up with the calendar. It is still dropping below freezing at night. There were guys out on the ice rink today making a dent in removing the layers of ice that still haven't melted in the last couple of weeks since they closed it down. There are also tulips and other bulbs starting to pop out of the dirt. I am hopeful it will feel more like spring soon. I can't wait to see all the tulips on State Street.

Think I can post every day until graduation?
