minding my p's and q's

Sometimes we all need a silly meme.

This is how it works: comment on this entry and I will give you a letter. Write ten words beginning with that letter in your blog, including an explanation of what the word means to you and why, and then pass out letters to those who want to play along.

Q:

quiet: What I wish it could be in my head most days. Instead there are all these thoughts and ideas running amok, making it very hard to concentrate and get work done. The noise outside in the city also doesn't help. Part of me truly longs for peace and silence.

queen: At one point in my life I thought it would be fun to be queen. But really, it seems like an odd job. Every move you make in public is scrutized, and it is hard to trust anyone. Of course there are the family jewels....

quirky: I like that I am quirky. And I like others who are also quirky. There is nothing wrong with having a few quirks. Say it loud, say it proud: I am quirky! See, told you.

quintessence: This just seems like a very Martha Stewart kind of word.

Q-tips: Yes, you aren't supposed to clean your ears with them, but everyone does. Of course they come in handy for other things like cleaning the crumbs out of that part of the toaster oven at the bottom, under the glass door.

questions: Right now all the big questions seem to be on the table. Where are we headed? Where will we live? Will I meet new people? How? Will I like it? Will book club survive? And on and on.

quixotic: It means exceedingly idealistic, unrealistic and impractical. Truly it should have been my middle name. Did I tell you I was recently plotting ways to afford a house in Piedmont, California that is on the market for over $5M?! I don't have anywhere near that kind of money. Still, I waxed quixotically about it.

quince: Never really been a fan, but what a fun word!

qi: Another way to spell chi, or the circulating life force. Great Scrabble word too.

quotation: I love great quotations. In fact I have magnets all over my fridge with many great sayings of famous people. Goethe is a favorite.
