and soon it will be december

garden of z's

That doesn't seem possible, and yet in a few short days we will enter the final month of the year. I don't feel ready, although I am not quite sure what would change that.

We ventured out today. First to a place called The Original Pancake House. They know their pancakes. The portions are huge. They give you two paper plates and a rubber band to take home the leftovers. Pretty clever.

Then we went to the library. It was nice to have two hours of reliable Internet access. Really nice.

After picking up some cupcakes at Sprinkles we headed over to Smith & Hawken. They brought back their collectible ornaments inspired by Impressionist artists. They stopped for a couple of years, doing a series of ornaments on green houses. I just couldn't get into them.

The interesting thing was that somehow we were led astray by their website. The address was mapping wrong. Clearly Costa Mesa is not a grid. We searched all around a shopping center (including the back) before B got their phone number and called. Indeed they really were in South Coast Plaza. All they need to say is that it is between Nordstrom and Sears. They even have a parking lot, which meant no dealing with crazy people holiday shopping at South Coast.

We also stopped at the newly opened Paper Source at the Crystal Court. I love that place. So many beautiful things. So inspiring. But no origami paper.

After grabbing a bite to eat we braved the winds and jumped on the freeway. The car was rocked a few times. There was all kinds of debris on the road as well. The winds are expected to continue through the weekend, and could reach up to 70mph.

I am feeling better, but can't talk for more than a couple of minutes before I start hacking. Hopefully soon this will be over. Maybe before November.
