Tonight while I was sitting in the parking lot of the Cingular store - B realized his contract would allow him to upgrade his phone - I decided I might burn a few of my minutes while waiting. But one look at my phone book, and I realized it needs some updating. Here are a few of the highlights:
Front desk of the building in Chicago where we lived. Okay I might have to call this one more time if I can't figure out the address of the laundry company so I can return my laundry card and collect my $3. If you have read any of the fun I had in that laundry room you will get why I need that $3 back. Loading dock of the building in Chicago where we lived. This one I should delete. I mean honestly why would I ever need to call them again? I don't need to schedule the elevator or check on a package that is sitting down there. Edith. This took me a few seconds to figure out. Then I remembered Edith was the woman at Sears who caused the refrigerator debacle of now almost two years ago. Maybe for fun I should call and see if she still works there? Um, no. 800-ASK-USPS. I just can't bring myself to delete this one. I actually do call it. And most of the time they don't hang up on me. Once when we were on a road trip we used it to find a zip code so we could find a local Starbucks. True story. Wells Fargo. Closed my accounts with them almost two years ago. I am really surprised I didn't delete it then. The California DMV. I added this one after a little incident involving my driver's license getting shall we say 'lost in the mail'. It is also when I realized that Cesar Chavez Day is a State holiday. Of course it might have helped B when he realized that his license had expired while trying to pick up a rental car at Oakland Airport. It is probably safe to delete it now.Of course there is a list of people who have recently moved. Many have given me new information, but it is rare that I go find my cell phone and update it. There are also work numbers that need to be updated.
Somehow I have a couple of duplicate numbers. I noticed one person whose cell phone and home number are listed as the same.
I also noticed that a few of the entries have this little blue icon next to it. No idea what that means. Perhaps they are also on Cingular? Or maybe it has to do with how the number is stored. I have no clue.
I think adding an ICE (in case of emergency) entry is a great idea, but have I done it? No.
And finally there are those people I don't really talk to any longer. There are many reasons. There is even a dead person's number in my phone book. I still haven't been able to bring myself to remove it.

Just thought I'd say hi as I'm trying to visit and comment on as many of the NaBloPoMo blogs as I can. :)
I've got some contacts in my phone that I only ever called once - only to ascertain why they even called my phone in the first place (which usually ended up being because of the person who held the number before I did). I ought to deal with those one day. :)
hahaha...I do that every few months to my phone too! half the time, I can't figure out where in the hell I got half the numbers, or who they belong to.
